What is the best CNC 4 axis (4 stepper motors) controller in 2020
The Ethernet SmoothStepper is still one of my favorites. It makes a nice and tidy combination when paired with a Gecko G540.
Up and coming is the UC400ETH, which supports the emerging UCCNC software.
There’s a popular commentator in the CNC Zone forums that goes by Ger21, and his word is gold as far as I’m concerned. He’s started to move away from Mach3/Mach4 and into the UCCNC platform. I haven’t made the switch yet, but I’m sure he has good reasons. Among them is the somewhat awkward implementation of Mach4.
