How do I control a 6 stepper motor with an Arduino?
Check out sparkfun or pololu. But there are some things to consider.
Are these motors bipolar or monopolar?
How much current will they draw?
What voltage will they be run at?

It's capable of driving up to four steeper motors with only 6 pins. Get a microcontroller that has at least 12 I/O's that you can work with so that you can use 2 of these boards. That will give you a capacity for 8 motors, which will satisfy your requirement. Keep in mind though that this will only be able to provide up to 2 amps to each motor. When purchasing both boards, it will be a little pricey, (about 130 bucks), but that's what it takes to do it right. Best of luck!
